DJ Interviews

They present themselves expressively with their charity project It began in Africa and the accompanying single Free Tribe which made it to No. 1 on the Beatport charts. The project was published to support the children in need of help in Africa on their label Kittball Records, which they founded in 2006 and, since early 2010 both of them collaborate with their friend and Dj Juliet Sikora. In addition to publishing the productions on their own label, TUBE & BERGER make music on labels like Great Stuff Recordings, Moonbootique, Trapez, Ministry of Sound, and others.

Many of their singles reached international attention and succeeded even up to No. 1 on the US Billboard Dance charts. Just to name a few: “Straight Ahead”, “The Young and the wild ones”, “Free Tribe”, or “Human You “.

Who is your favorite artist from EDM outside your own specific genre?

Definitely our “heroes” like Underworld, The Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk. We also love Felix Laband who’s making the coolest chill out music on the planet!

Tell us more about your latest release.

We recently released the remix version of our album Introlution. We’re happy to have so many cool artists on board. Especially the remix of our italian buddies Nice 7 is doing really great on Beatport.

There’s also a new Tube & Berger EP on the spanish label Suara out on the 14th of January called “Pleasure Dip”. Two deep groovers that already got good support from the so called DJ elite.

Tube & Berger

Tell us something that really surprised you.

That some people still believe the world will to end in 2012. 😉

Do you have any habits that are bad for your career?

Well drinking too much and staying up til dawn isn’t healthy at all and it makes you lazy. So being in the studio or working in the office can be a pain in the ass sometimes. It’s always good to remember that you’re doing the job you love most.

What has been your best business decision in favor of your artist career?

Founding our own label Kittball Records and work with people that we trust and love very much.

Which DJs from EDM became your personal friends?

Over the years we met a lot of DJs especially from Germany. Loads of good buddies over here. Last summer we had a cool time at Coyu’s place in Barcelona and a crazy night with Phillip from M.A.N.D.Y in Croatia. Most of our personal friends are not really involved into the whole EDM thing. That’s good because we like talking about stuff that has nothing to do with dance music…

DJ InterviewDo you handle your own promotion?

Most of it we handle ourselves with a lot of help from our friends here at Kittball. For our album we worked with the guys from Listen Up and we were satisfied. We try to manage most of the social media madness ourselves so sorry for not tweeting random bullshit every 5 minutes.

Is there something that is really fucked up in the DJ scene? How would we go about to change that?

The endless discussions about what’s underground and what’s commercial really sucks. Sometimes people ask us if we hate David Guetta or the Swedish House Mafia for selling out EDM. Hate is for the haters! Let everybody do what he wants to do!

Dance Music MagazineDescribe the first rave you ever attended.

It was in 1996 and we were (obviously) young. The club was called Poison Club and the DJ played brand new tracks of the legendary Homework album by Daft Punk. It was a great night and we didn’t wanna go home…

What can we expect in the near future from your record label?

In the near future we’ll release number six of our Kittball Konspiracy series. This time with a track by George Morel. We’ll do a remix for Jerome Robins which will be out in March. Also in the pipeline are Juliet Sikora, D-Nox & Beckers and Milan Euringer.

Have you tried the Dubstep DJ Name Generator on Hammarica.com? What was your result?

Tube & Berger InterviewOur Dubstep name is:

Raucous Pillflash

Very ridiculous but we can’t stop creating new names. Aaahh!

Is there a final thing you would like to say to our readers?

Dear Hammerica readers! Kill your TV and make love like there’s no tomorrow!
